Hi there! My name is Thaisa Lemos. I have a B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences. For almost 10 years, I worked as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in NYC, working with hundreds of families from different backgrounds. I specialized in working with first-time parents, immigrant families, and infants with reflux.
In the first couple of years of a child's life, feeding (breastfeeding, bottle feeding, solids, night feeds, etc.) is connected to sleep, one of the biggest worries new parents have. Over the past few years, I noticed I could help my patients beyond the strict lactation support the IBCLC practice allowed me. I noticed families and I needed more time together. I noticed families thrived when I could offer prolonged support, and that is not feasible in a regular lactation practice. I took a sabbatical year to study and think about possible changes I could make to my practice to better serve my patients, and for the past couple of months, I've been taking new patients on a new approach.
I am happy to announce I am now working as a New Parents’ Life Coach. With my Nutrition and Lactation backgrounds, I help families with nursing, infant feeding, and lactation issues.
I am fluent in English and Portuguese. All sessions are online only.
How can I help?
I help families identify what is normal newborn and infant behavior and when to seek additional help. I help parents address their questions to the right healthcare practitioner - a pediatrician, or specialist, a sleep consultant, etc. I understand milk supply, infant feeding, parent and infant nutrition, infant behavior, and sleep. I can combine this knowledge and guide new parents on how to best handle newborn and infant sleep, ensuring infant feeding is not negatively impacted.
These are just a few examples of how I can assist families as their New Parents’ Life Coach. Want to ask a quick question about spit-ups but the pediatrician only gets back to you in 24h? Is your supply dipping and you don't know what to do? Everything was going fine then baby seemed super fussy for 2 days? When will the baby sleep through the night? What to do when you're going back to work? Are you going on a trip, how to adapt the baby's routine? Imagine I am your family's first stop for all questions baby-related.
